It was a winter wonderland for some in the greater Philadelphia area. Residents in Berks county took precaution shoveling driveways, stocking up at food stores, and hitting Home Depot.

The snow is still coming down sporadically, be advised as the temperatures drop into the night Penn dot warns the roads will be slippery.

"Once the temperatures start dropping then we have to step it up a little bit. Put more salt down," Peter Scerati, Penn dot manager told Fox29 News.

PennDOT will have crews out covering roads in all five counties hit with snow-- Berks, Delaware, Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia.

PennDOT crews report that the Interstate roads are wet, and back roads were covered with snow.

Scerati advises, "take their time and when you see our trucks stay behind them. Don't go around them because their trying to do their job."

Residents tried to stay ahead of the snow, food shopping, buying ice for sidewalks, and shoveling early.

"It's not too heavy it's not really wet, it's good snow blowing snow," Tim Phillips, in Reading, PA told Fox 29 News. He put down salt as a precaution against ice later forming on his driveway.

Nick Voutsas, manager of Home Depot in Reading, PA says the store was filled with customers this morning.

"We are selling a lot of rock salt and shovels."

If you have to go out on the roads tonight, drive slowly, as drivers are reporting slick conditions.
