Legal case over WTC spire steel settled

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and a Canadian company have settled a lawsuit over steel for an antenna that will sit atop One World Trade Center.

A joint announcement was made Tuesday by the Port Authority, ADF Steel Corp. and WTC 1 LLC.

The Manhattan lawsuit had said the company refused to ship remaining steel for the spire while demanding about $6 million in payments for another project.

One World Trade Center is being built to replace the twin towers destroyed on 9/11.

The antenna will be 408 feet tall when completed.

    Tuesday, April 21 2015 6:07 AM EDT2015-04-21 10:07:21 GMT
Bus and rail commuters on New Jersey Transit would face fare increases for the first time in five years and see some service cuts under new proposals that seek to close an estimated $60 million budget gap. The increases average roughly between 7 and 9 percent and would be the first imposed by NJ Transit since 2010, when it hiked fares by an average of 22 percent.

Can't get enough "Game of Thrones"? Neither can we. Nobody throws a "GoT" party like Professor Thom's in the East Village. Six days a week it is a New England sports bar. But on the seventh day the channel changes to HBO.
